Father Knows Best

I saw a mother in the store with her young infant, and the look of adoration in each of their eyes was beautiful to behold. It provided a glimpse of what our relationship with our heavenly Parent ought to be. An infant is completely reliant on its parent for not only the necessities of existence: food, clothing, shelter, but more importantly, for love, care, acceptance, nurturing of every sort. And, even we, broken, imperfect, young and inexperienced parents that we are, try very hard to meet those needs and are rewarded with our baby's complete love and trust. We are their whole life. If only God could be our whole life. If only we could completely love and trust our heavenly Father, who, ironically, is so much more worthy of it than we are, and who is so much more capable of providing than we are. Wouldn't it be grand to say, "please, Father, I am your little one- care for me." He will, you know. He wants to; He's waiting to. God's been a Parent for a long, long time and, He is very, very good at it.

Hosea 11.1,3 - When Israel was a child I loved him as a son and brought him out of Egypt. I trained him from infancy, I taught him to walk, I held him in my arms.

Isaiah 49.14-15 - The people of Jerusalem said, "The Lord has abandoned us! He has forgotten us." So the Lord answers, "Can a woman forget her own baby and not love the child she bore? Even if a mother should forget her own child, I will never forget you.

Jeremiah 3.19 - Israel, I wanted to accept you as my son, I wanted you to call me Father and never turn away from me.

1 Peter 1.2 - Dear friends, God the Father chose you long ago and knew you would become his children.

1 John 3.1 - See how much the Father has loved us! His love is so great that we are called God's children, and, so, in fact we are. But since most people don't know God, naturally, they don't understand that we are his children.

Matthew 7.9-11 - Would any of you who are fathers give your son a stone if he asks for bread? Or would you give him a snake if he asks for a fish? As bad as you are, you know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him.

Colossians 2.6 - Now just as you trusted Christ to save you, trust him, too, with each day's problems.

Peter 5.7 - Cast all your worries on him, for he cares about you.

Ephesians 1.8 - He has showered down upon us the richness of his grace - for how well he understands and knows what is best for us at all times.

Matthew 6.8 - Remember your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him.

Galatians 4.6 - Because we are his sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, so now we can rightly speak of God as our dear Father. And since we are his sons, everything he has belongs to us, for that is the way God planned.

1 Peter 1.23 - Through the living and eternal word of God you have been born again as the children of a parent who is immortal, not mortal.

Ephesians 3.18,19 - May you be able to feel and understand as all God's children should, how long, how wide, how deep, how high his love really is; and to experience this love for yourselves, though it is so great that you will never see the end of it or fully know or understand it.
