Light Show
When we return to being spirit, leaving our corporal bodies behind, we will be returning to the Light. This world can often be a place of deep darkness, while that place to which we are returning is a world of Light. It is a theme that C.S. Lewis often touched on: The world we live in is a pale reflection of the world that awaits us; we are now inhabitants of the "Shadow-lands." But since we are supposed to be able to recognize our friends and loved ones on the other side, we must somehow bear a similar appearance to our earthly "selves" - perhaps something like a hologram - a "holy-gram," if you will!
There's a wonderful story about a small child, taken into a sanctuary to see the stained glass windows and hear the stories of the Saints of old depicted there. Later when asked about saints, he replied that they were "people that the light shines through." He had seen the light beaming through those Saints of the Bible, lit up by the sun. Each of us as baptized Christians are also saints of God, and if we are living a life in communion with Him, we, too, will be "lit up" by the Son, for the Great Light will come shining through.
"The saints of God are just folks like me,
And I want to be one, too."
