Water Baby
At some point along her route she had shed her "waterlogged " night diaper and gown, and proceeded to make her early morning ablutions in the backyard wading pool. First, the side of her crib had to be scaled, no problem for an agile 18 mo. old. The sliding chain lock (installed near the floor so it would not be easily accessible to someone breaking in) was very accessible to our little one "breaking out." A center twist lock on the doorknob, a storm door with a punch and push handle were now the last obstacles to her morning swim. Apparently, nothing was going to keep her from the water. Her older brother's window overlooked the patio, and he waked us with this news, "Amanda is outside in her swimming pool," the tone of awe in his voice indicating he was sure this was not an approved activity. Coffee cannot compare with the kind of wake-up jolt this news brought. Well, our water baby has grown up and is "getting in deeper;" she is a student of marine biology. I marvel at how very early our children start transmitting signals as to their life's calling. How clearly are we receiving; how often are we tuned in?
Luke 2.33 - The child's mother and father were amazed.
Isaiah 11.06 - A little child will lead them.
Psalm107.23-24 - Some went down to the sea in ships, doing business on the great waters; they saw the deeds of the Lord, his wondrous works in the deep.
Psalm 104.25 - There before me lies the mighty ocean, teeming with life of every kind, both great and small. And look! See the ships! And out there, the whale you made to play in the sea.
Habakkuk 2.14 - The time will come when all the earth is filled, as the waters fill the sea, with an awareness of the glory of God.
